About the event

The conclusion of the Christmas Season always carries with it a harbinger of the Lenten Season that will be here before we can imagine. For us at Saint Luke, one sign of things to come is our annual INTERNATIONAL DINNER.

The International Dinner is a perfect Mardi-Gras type of social event for adults in the tradition of the old time parish “pre-Lenten” dances, a chance to get together for some celebration before we enter into Lent.

In short, the International Dinner provides an opportunity to share our various national heritages and to sample the cuisines of many nations. As with last year, because of space limitations in the Parish Center, we’re going to limit ourselves to eight cuisines.

Any group of friends/neighbors/parishioners can take on the task of presenting a cuisine. That task involves devising a complete menu (main course, accompaniments, and dessert – appetizer optional) that represents the foods of a particular country. The menu items chosen must be capable of being served in small, sample size portions. The presenters are also responsible for decorating their serving table and providing a door prize in keeping with the national theme. (All expenses are reimbursed.) Other tasks that can be taken on by small groups which are not cooking are those of staffing the beverage tables and decorating the Community Room with a Mardi Gras theme.

Eight cuisines are available; please claim the one you and your team wish to present. Call the Rectory at (203) 227-7245. We’ll gladly help you with the planning, especially in regard to quantities needed.

Tickets will available for sale soon. Register now to receive a notification when ticket sales are open!
